Practice Hospitality & Welcome

We value being a welcoming, hospitable community, where everyone has a sense of belonging. For example:

Welcoming newcomers to Little Falls

One of the most consistent needs identified by community members during the visioning process was a need to make Little Falls as welcoming to newcomers as possible. This included a stronger focus on affordable housing and daycare, access to local resources, and activities to strengthen community bonds across the lines of class, race, gender, and sexual orientation.

Expanding affordable housing

Lack of access to affordable, high-quality housing is one of the most common reasons that potential newcomers to an area might choose to move somewhere else. Through community partnerships, the City of Little Falls hopes to expand access to well-maintained, cost-effective housing for the working families and young professionals that keep our local economy healthy.

Building a community center

In addition to its potential economic and public health benefits, a community center will help bring residents together around common interests and goals, whether that means a knitting circle that meets twice monthly in one of the rooms, an ESL group for new arrivals to the country coming together to learn English, or afterschool sports for kids and teenagers. The community center is meant to be a place that everyone can use and everyone can benefit from.
