One Vegetable, One Community

The One Vegetable, One Community program starts with a ballot. The community votes to choose a vegetable of the year, and then gardeners get to work planting that vegetable in raised garden beds, window boxes, and home gardens. You can learn more about the program, the vegetable selected for Little Falls in 2022, and how to get involved here.

Building raised garden beds

The Local Foods, Local Places committee and the City of Little Falls have received $500 in SHIP funding for the construction of three raised garden beds in Gamradt Park. The raised garden beds will be maintained by Little Falls Community Schools students and the Master Gardeners of Morrison County, and will serve to educate young people interested in a career in agriculture while also providing fresh, local vegetables to anyone in the community who might need them.

Planning a farmer’s market pavilion

The farmers and craftspeople who travel to Little Falls every Wednesday and Friday to sell their products have expressed a desire for a farmer’s market pavilion to make the experience more convenient - and more sheltered from the elements - for both vendors and buyers. A pavilion would also serve as an excellent gathering-space for parties and outdoor meetings. While this project is currently on hold, you can still submit feedback, and learn about the City’s funding prospects, on the “Take Action” page.
